Worst Pun Ever

bbc settler wine
Oh BBC, the article is not so bad, (even if it glosses over the violent racist extremism of the settlers and the state’s complicity), but who perpetrated that pun atrocity?

I think you perhaps weren’t the only one to think this stinks – the title is different now, “Settler vineyards take root in West Bank” Is so much better!

Oh no, it had that headline on the page, but on the front page teaser was what the screen cap above shows.

Ah right – I just followed the link.

Don’t get it. You write: “the violent racist extremism of the settlers”, making a generic statement about everyone. You mean every Jew in teh West bank is running around like waving a gun over their head.
Now, if you made that insinuation over any other ethnic or religious group, you would be branded a racist. Here, the rhetoric is acceptable.
Sad that you cannot tell the difference. No good looking to you for a 2-state solution.

If you click the link there is evidence that demonstrates the extremism of the settlers and state collusion. Or let B’Tselem regale you with evidence

The jig is up Michael, and ‘settlers’ delineates not an ethnic or religious group they are a political grouping- extreme Zionists who deliberately colonise land illegally stolen through warfare and maintained through an oppressive security apparatus that those with expertise & experience have called apartheid. So please, save the Hasbara. As for two states they would need to be equal (water, sovereignty, military, etc) and based on the 1967 borders and with the right of return, the honest solution is one state, a democratic secular state not Jewish or Islamic or Christian or Flying Spaghetti Monster. I believe that is possible and will mean a truly worthy homeland for all those in the region.

Besides most people in Israel don’t support the settlements either. They hate the massive tax fraud and embezzlement that goes into building these Fort Apaches.

My bad, this was before the latest round of fighting and pressure from the Obama administration to freeze the growth of settlements. Now a slim margin (56%) on some polls (http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1092436.html), but others (by a similar margin) want to follow Obama’s lead (http://tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/06/05/friday_poll_in_israel_shows_majoritysolid_support/). So the question is where is the real support?

The internals speak a different story all together. But I think as the ceasefire holds on the Palestinian side and the settler violence continues these polls will change again. That’s why the Likudist launch these “incursions” every so often, to stir fear in the Israeli public and protect the settlers’ interest.
