The police service’s handling of the G20 protests has been defended by the Association of Chief Police Officers. Its president, Sir Ken Jones, said that policing of protests in the UK was “proportionate” and recent criticisms had lacked objectivity and perspective. “We need to make sure we don’t condemn the many for the problems created by a few,” he told BBC Radio 4’s Today.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission has had almost 90 complaints relating to the London protests.
“I can’t find any other country which doesn’t use water cannon, CS gas, rubber bullets. Our approach is proportionate and, in fact, has delivered on many other occasions,” he said
So 90 complaints, numerous assaults, officers routinely with malice aforethought covering up their identity numbers and one dead resulting in a false autopsy and false police statements to cover up the attack. Action only being taken after video evidence by citizens is widely seen. Yep, nothing to see here, move on.
And the Chiefs are excusing this, so what in effect they have done is…us a favour. They have shown the culture of British policing is corrupted from the top on down. Just read that last bit again-
“I can’t find any other country which doesn’t use water cannon, CS gas, rubber bullets. Our approach is proportionate and, in fact, has delivered on many other occasions,” he said
Sounds like a little glee and a threat, shut up or we get medieval on your ass. That is an authoritarian mindset, do what we say or we use violence. Oh the hubris!

They have had more than 90 complaints just that they are trying to downplay the significance. And maybe, just maybe, people are beginning to open their eyes and see that Her Maj Finest are not quaint sweet Dixon of Dock Green. More shocktroops whacking and battering people in their Kevlar uniforms. Dixon of Dock Green meets Stairship Troopers….
It is interesting that they bring up water cannons, CS gas, rubber bullets. Like ‘hey you’re lucky’…but the thing is many people get head related injuries through baton charging in this country. I was talking to a photographer about this and he has attended many demos and protests globally and he said the British cops are more up close and violently brutal with ye olde baton whacking.
The fact they are minimising their behaviour shows they are on the defensive.

Oh, and btw some right-wing misogynist journo thinks Nicky Fisher (the woman attacked on the 2nd April) ‘deserved the slap….’. I suppose he thinks lippy women deserve a beating overall when they step out of line, maybe he will be advocating bringing back the ‘rule of thumb’…
Vile vile vile

Starship Troopers, good call! They should be on the defensive they have gone way too far into demanding obedience of people.
‘deserved the slap….’ ??? What, so physical violence by a large well trained cop with back up is a reasonable response to a conversation???!?!? Yes I think they are revealing a pining for the ‘family values’ of the master of the house ruling by violence, conservatives!
