Damned If You Do, Damned If You Don’t

It appears that a photo of the Iranian missile tests is not only photoshopped but an old picture. The work of the Revolutionary Guard media outfit Sepah News, that others have not reprinted- neither Fars News, nor Mehr News or ISNA published any picture of the event. Sepah have since replaced the photo without comment. Some wingnuts have latched onto this because, well any excuse to demean Iran in their tiny racist genocidalist brains.

Rather it is showing we are in a pernicious phase of the war pimping when Iran is desperate to show some deterrence to an attack and whether they have the missiles they claim to work or not their claims are used to further the hawks cause. Perhaps in fact the pro-attack parties know the missiles are not as functional as they appear but are happy to play them as a threat in the media to gain support for an attack. We are again in the pre-Iraq mindset where any event or piece of information is being spun to support the warmongers agenda. The BBC have a logo-esque title (which I haven’t noticed before, so I guess it is new-ish)- Iran Nuclear Crisis- which is never good when corporate media put a branding on world events. Why Iran Nuclear Crisis? Why not US Israeli aggression crisis? There is much more attention over the missile tests, but a specific Israeli military exercise based upon attacking Iran is not condemned, most media reports containing no countervailing comments, these were tests if anything to have a deterrent effect, that was an explicit rehearsal for an attack. Our leaders are violently partisan in this and our media must not do as they did with Iraq and follow the leader. (ht2 Andrew)
