As One Door Closes…

Mercenaries will lose their license to kill in Iraq-

The Iraqi government plans to submit a draft law to parliament soon to bring foreign private security contractors under Iraqi jurisdiction and end their immunity from prosecution, an Iraqi official said on Wednesday. The legislation follows a number of deadly shootings involving foreign security guards, most controversially a Sept. 16 incident in which guards employed by U.S. firm Blackwater killed 17 people.

But why dwell on the past when you can pimp up new wars-

The United States on Thursday escalated tensions over Iran’s nuclear drive and alleged backing for terrorism with a raft of new sanctions against the Islamic republic’s military and banks. Iran denounced the unilateral sanctions as illegal and “doomed to failure” and Russia sounded a note of concern. But US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Washington was well within its rights. “We’re taking additional actions to defend our interests and our citizens, and to help our friends to secure their countries,” she told reporters.

We’ve all seen the picture of Rice ignoring her crimes and from that post by Naj is this linked article-

Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tzipi Livni met today (Tuesday, 23 October 2007) with Mr Gela Bezhuashvili, foreign minister of the Republic of Georgia. During the discussion, FM Livni stressed the problematic view Israel has of the ongoing dialogues between Georgia and Iran.

With regard to the negotiations with the Palestinians, FM Livni told the Georgian FM that “it must be clearly understood that any agreement with the Palestinians must be conditional upon the implementation of Palestinian commitments to the war against terror”.

TWAT is really just a brand name for the old game, a set of conditions to subservience that must be met, a code of hegemony that unless submitted to you will be designated ‘enemy’ & ‘terrorist’, bombed, tortured, treated as sub-human until you obey the overseer empire’s (and its familiars) diktats. That is what the rhetoric on Iran is about, though luckily it does provide an easy test for identifying morons- if mention of Iran makes them worry/talk/write/run think-tank seminars/appear on news programs /host radio shows about being attacked with nuclear weapons and thus ‘we’ must strike first… they are a moron. You don’t need to thank me for this useful cretin divining service, just doing my job keeping the world safe from witless buffoons.

The Bush administration, severely weakened by policy decisions and wars of their own making, feel the need to appear strong no matter how pathetic the method. The administration is bluffing–after the fiascoes of Iraq and Afghanistan, they wouldn’t dare invade another country because they know how terrible the outcome will be. Of course, air-raids are not quite the same thing as invading and might actually be effective in the short-term–but if they dared do that Hezbollah would launch all its suicide operations directly unto continental USA. So it’s just a bluff to make the GOP happy.

    LOL

you’re on the humorous side today too!
Frankly, i think these people are beginning to look very very clownish. This is not the 80s anymore! This is not the era when china and India were nonexistent. This is not the era people trust the American government and are afraid to criticize Israel.

The heat’s on them! Never before has it been so feverish! They are just trying to hide their defeat, and the more they throw fits, the deeper they sink.

    I am watching with amusement.

Eric! I hope you are right about them bluffing, however I do not think we are dealing with rational people anymore, but hezbollah suicide bombs in the US…seems a bit fanciful after all there are targets much closer and easier to hit. And I don’t see bombing as effective as I don’t share America’s imperial objectives.

Naj- I worry that as many of these nutjobs think Vietnam could have gone well if only they’d ’stayed the course’ such rational awareness may be beyond them.
Now if I swing that whole blogging stipend/peace deal you owe me tea at the Ritz!

  4. naj Says:

Rick, you bring peace to Iran, I will buy you anything you want :)
But we should have tea … you’ll be around in December?

    Check out http://tonykaron.com.

Here is an excellent report from FRONTLINE (PBS). Sorry for the duplication.

    A pony?
December, tea,… I’ll start buttering the crumpets!
That Tony Karon Haaretz post is hilarious, I can’ wait until they accuse themselves of anti-semitism, just in case they might have an anti-semitic fingernail or some not entirely nationalistic on message socks.
Do I now have to watch the show twice Rafael? I wonder what audience figures it will get especially compared to big shows on the main stations or even just the main news shows. I wish they hadn’t ’sexed’ it up by calling it ’showdown’ though.

  7. Rafael Says:

Low, guaranteed, most people do not watch PBS. To bad, they choose to be ignorant. Thats their damned fault.

  8. Rafael Says:

And no, you don’t have to watch the show twice, although it would be nice if I know how to record it….

  9. Jeff Says:

You should take a look at the Wounded Warriors Project. It raises awareness for severely wounded combat U.S. combat veterans in Iraq and Afghanistan. It really puts a face on the cost of this war. Here’s a link:

  10. RickB Says:

Thanks Jeff, certainly war will continue until the instigators pay the cost rather than profit leaving the real toll to the lower classes to bear.
Rafael, I know there is a mac app for recording onscreen vid, so windows must have one too, btw, think I’ve found a winner for recording skype.
