H/t to Korova from comments, the BBC report Gary McKinnon has failed to have his extradition stopped he will be shipped (unless the House of Lords reverses the decision) to the US where he could be executed after being declared an enemy combatant with no habeas corpus rights. John Reid yet again standing up for the rights of the US state to do whatever it likes with our citizen’s, 51st client slate Beeatch! US prosecutors threatened he would ‘fry’ and want to use the full terrorist scare bullshit to secure a conviction.
What they do not mention at all is that McKinnon was looking for evidence of UFO’s in unsecured military networks, oh yeah he used a 56k modem and walked into unsecured networks. No great terrorist hacker, a lone guy obsessed with UFO’s looking at files on US networks where no password was set (i.e. he typed in ‘Admin’ & ‘password’, woohoo what a cyber mastermind). Which may leave you thinking they either are afraid he saw evidence of nefarious US military activity or they are covering up some weird intergalactic shit. To not mention UFO’s makes him seem a lot more sinister and the US much more justified in protecting its security, naughty BBC.
